• July 1 - The present "One country two systems" guarantee with Hong Kong, provided under the Basic Law, is set to expire. (The agreement is raised by Deng Xiaoping to deal with Hong Kong's reunification with the People's Republic of China in 1997, and is stipulated in the Sino-British Joint Declaration of 1984. The guarantees specified a period of 50 years after 1997.)

• August 14 Pakistan will celebrate 100 years of Independence.
• August 15 India will celebrate 100 years of Independence. It got its Independence on August 15 1947.
