Angiogram

For people who check facts
An angiogram is a technique where an X-ray is taken to measure blockage of arteries. Its name comes from the Greek angeion, "vessel", and graphien, "to write".

The most common angiogram is of the coronary artery, in which a long, thin, flexible tube called a catheter is threaded into an artery in the groin or forearm. The catheter is advanced through the arterial system into one of the two major coronary arteries, where a fluid that blocks X-rays (a contrast medium, or dye) is injected. X-rays of its distribution show the coronary arteries and their narrowing.

Angiography is also used to identify vessel narrowing in patients with retinal vascular disorders such as diabetic retinopathy and macular degeneragion.
