Ankara Province

Ankara Province is the province which is home to the capital city of Turkey, Ankara. It is located in the west-central Anatolian steppes. With the exception of the capital city, most of the province is rural, used for agriculture. Its area is 25 706 km². Its population in 2000 census was over 4 million people.

Ankara became the capital of Turkey in 1923.
