Assimilation (linguistics)
Assimilation is a process by which two different consonants in a word which are to be pronounced one after the other become a double consonant because that way the word is easier to pronounce.Examples
- The word assimilation itself (from Latin ad + simile)
- illegible (in + legible)
- suppose (sub + pose)
- Egitto, dottore, and many more words in Italian
