Augustan poetry is named for Caesar Augustus. Augustan poetry was that poetry established during his reign as Emperor of Rome. These would include Virgil, Horace, and Ovid.

Also during the 18th century neoclassical period, the writers who would use these poets' works as basis for their own revival of the style were called Augustans such as Pope, Dryden, and Swift.
