Balti (food)
Balti is the name for a style of food first devised in Birmingham, England around the 1970s. The food is a curry-style dish, taking its name from the steel or iron pot in which it is cooked and served, the balti (literally, "bucket"). Normally the balti is served with naan bread; fragments of the bread are used to scoop up the curry sauce. The food and its style of presentation proved very popular, and Balti restaurants have gradually opened up throughout a large part of Britain.
