Batch job

Helping orphans the way you would do it
A batch job is a computer task that is submitted, often on a regular schedule, for batch processing. Batch jobs are not thought of as interactive, but transaction processing systems such as IBM's CICS may run from a technical perspective as batch jobs, although this is typically obscured from terminal users. Batch processes do not, however, start on demand, being scheduled normally asynchronusly by an operating system.
