Battle of Sainte-Foy
The Battle of Sainte-Foy, sometimes called the Battle of Quebec (1760) fought April 28, 1760, was a French victory under the Chevalier de Lévis over the British army under General Murray. At Sainte-Foy, the Chevalier de Lévis observed General Murray on the heights. He employed the tactic of a feigned retreat. The British repeated the mistake of the late General Montcalm, left the safety of the fortress of Quebec and followed the Chevalier. Lévis turned on the pursuing force and smashed the British lines.Lévis was, however, unable to retake Quebec City. The British force remained besieged in the city until naval reinforcements were able to arrive.
