Canadian Coast Guard
The Canadian Coast Guard (Fr Garde côtière canadienne, CCG/GCC) is the coast guard of Canada, and is the federal agency responsible for the protection of both Canada's coasts and the mariners sailing off them. It belongs to the Department of Fisheries and Oceans Canada.The CCG's specific responsibilities include search and rescue, boating safety, marine navigation, environmental protection, and icebreaking.
The Coast Guard received its present name on January 28, 1962.
