Cavalier
The Cavaliers (or Royalists) were the supporters of the monarch Charles I of England in the English Civil War. The Parliamentarians on the other side, led by Oliver Cromwell, were called Roundheads.More generally Cavalier means cavalryman, from the French Chevalier.
Cavalier can also mean 'arrogant' or 'offhand'.
Cavalier is also the name of of two makes of General Motors J-body cars; the Chevrolet Cavalier in the US, and the Vauxhall Cavalier in the UK.
Cavalier is also the sports mascot of the University of Virginia. In professional sports, the Cleveland Cavaliers are a basketball team in the National Basketball Association.
