Human rights abuses are a major problem in Daikondi Province according to The Afghan Independent Human Rights Commission [AIHRCO] reported in April.
Thousands of residents from the Gazab district of Uruzgan protested on April 20, 2004, demanding that Daikondi revert to being a district of Uruzgan.
Many Daikondi residents, fed up with the conflicts, fled the danger and have moved to Pakistan or Iraq.
