Douai is a city in the north of France, in the département of Nord, of which it is a sous-préfecture.

The Jesuit college at Douai achieved particular fame/notoriety as the site of training of priests intended for the Catholic recovery of Protestant England.

River: Scarpe

The English town of Bridgwater takes the second half of it's name from the Norman prince Walter Douai.

Higher eductaion: Douai hosts a Mines Engineering School, a Law University and a Nurse School.
