East Ham

East Ham is a place in the London Borough of Newham. Until 1965 it had been a county borough independent of Essex. It is just to the north of London City Airport. For the benefit of historians it should be noted that, although the County Borough was an independant unit, the majority of public records up to 1965 are held in the Essex County Record Office.
