Emperor Huizong of Song China
Hui Zong (ch 徽宗; pinyin Huīzōng) was an emperor of Song Dynasty China.His birth name was Zhao Ji (趙佶; ZhÃÂ o JÃÂ). He reigned from 1100-1125.
The periods within his reign are:
- Jianzhongjingguo (建中靖國 Jiànzhōngjìngguó) 1101
- Chongning (崇寧 ChóngnÃÂng) 1102-1106
- Daguan (大觀 DÃÂ guān) 1107-1110
- Zhenghe (政和 Zhènghé) 1111-1118
- Chonghe (重和 Chónghé) 1118-1119
- Xuanhe (宣和 Xuānhé) 1119-1125
His capital was at Kaifeng until 1126, when it was overrun by Jurchen, with whom he had previously allied. The Jurchens had already destroyed the Jin to the north. Huizong was taken as one of about 3000 prisoners, and died in captivity.
He was succeeded by his ninth son. Within a couple of years, the seat of the Song moved southward and the period known as the Southern Song was ushered in. 宋徽宗
