Far Eastern Republic
The Far Eastern Republic (Дальневосто́чная Респу́блика = ДВР) was a government established in Siberia east of Lake Baikal on 6 April 1920. Although nominally independent, it was mostly controlled by Soviet Russia, and was annexed to the Soviet Union after the Japanese evacuated Vladivostok on 19 November 1922.It occupied the territory of modern Chita Oblast, Amur Oblast, Khabarovsk Krai and Primorsky Krai of Russia. Its capital was first Verkhneudinsk (now Ulan-Ude) and later Chita (after October 1920).
The Republic issued a number of postage stamps during its brief existence. Initially it overprinted stamps of Russia, then issued its own designs. Large numbers of these were produced, and are readily available today, although genuine usages on cover are seldom seen.Postage stamps
