Fontainebleau
Fontainebleau is a city, a region and a forest about 50 km south of Paris, France.The city is a sous-préfecture of the Seine-et-Marne département.
It is a popular tourist spot on account of at least the following:
- The Royal Chateau Fontainebleau, where the Renaissance was introduced to France from 1528 onwards.
- The beautiful Fontainebleau forest a royal hunting park often visited by walkers, horse riders, and climbers.
- The graves of G. I. Gurdjieff and Katherine Mansfield in the cemetery at Avon.
