Friedrich Arnold Brockhaus (May 4, 1772 - August 20, 1823) was a German encyclopedia publisher and editor.

In 1808 he purchased the bankrupt Conversationslexikon which he turned into the Brockhaus encyclopedia that is still published today.

The business was carried on after his death by his sons Friedrich (1800-1865) and Heinrich (1804-1874), the latter being succeeded by his sons Eduard (1829-1914) and Rudolf (1838-1898).
