Goh Chok Tong

Goh Chok Tong (Chinese: 吴作栋, Hanyu Pinyin: Wú Zuòdòng ), born May 20, 1941 in Pasir Panjang, is currently prime minister of Singapore, and the secretary-general of the People's Action Party (PAP) since 1992. He succeeded Lee Kuan Yew in 1990 to become only the second prime minister in Singapore's history. Goh will hand the post of Prime Minister to Lee Hsien Loong on August 12, 2004.
He had previously served as senior minister of state for finance, minister for trade and industry, health and defence. He holds a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from the National University of Singapore and a Master of Arts in Development Economics from Williams College in the United States.
