Gridiron football

Gridiron football is a term that refers to both American football and Canadian football.

Although the term is widely used in both countries, it is particularly popular among many Canadians who become somewhat annoyed when the football played on their side of the border is referred to as American football. It is also used in Australia to contrast the North American styles with Australian Rules Football.
