Gun dog

Gundog refers to breeds developed to assist hunters or sports people to retrieve prey. Generally, when we talk about prey, it is birds that gundogs retrieve.

Gundogs are broken down by type:

• Water dogs (such as Poodles)
• Pointerss (such as the English Pointer)
• Setters (such as the English Setter)
• Flushing Spaniels (such as Cocker Spaniels)
• Retrievers (such as the Labrador Retriever or Golden Retriever)

Several breeds have been used in different ways, so the line among different types is not always clear and different people might think of one breed as different types.
