The Himalayan cat is a breed of cat with extremely long fluffy fur, and the 'points' of a siamese cat. They were bred from Siamese (for the markings) and Persian cats (for coat-length and temperament), and they share characteristics of both breeds. Himalayans have a short nose, but not a 'squashed face' like a modern persian show cat. They are sweet-tempered, intelligent and good companions. Their coat needs a lot of attention and grooming, because like most longhaired cats they have too much fur to attend to it properly by themselves.
