Hypertrophy
Hypertrophy is the increase of the mass or girth of an organ from its average size. It is most commonly seen in muscle that has been actively stimulated, the most well-known method being exercise.Hypertrophy can be pathological in many organs, especially ones in confined spaces such as the heart and the liver. In muscle, it is usually helpful and increases strength, but care must be taken to retain flexibility as well.
