Komsomolsk-on-Amur
Komsomolsk-on-Amur (Russian: Комсомо́льск-на-Аму́ре; often transliterated directly as Komsomolsk-na-Amure) is a city located in Khabarovsk Krai, Russia on the left bank of Amur River. In the Chinese language the city is also known as 共青城(Gongqing Cheng). Originally part of imperial China, the area came under Russian rule after the 1858 Aigun Treaty. The population of the city was 304,700 in 1996. The city was founded in 1932 as an industrial center by the Komsomol organization.
