List of archaeological sites

An archaeological site is the place were prehistoric or historic remains have been found or excavated. Sometimes it can be difficult to delimit a site, as in the case of diffuse lithic scatters. Site is mainly taken to indicate a settlement of some sort, but an episode of deposition hoard or burial can form a site as well.
