The Lord Mayor is the mayor of a city with special recognition.

In the Republic of Ireland, the post of Lord Mayor of Dublin still exists.
In Australia it is a political position. Australian cities with Lord Mayors include Brisbane, Hobart, Melbourne, Perth, Sydney, and Wollongong. See list of cities in Australia.
It is also, as the translation of OberbÃÂ¼rgermeister, the title of the mayors of independent (county-free) or formerly independent cities in Germany.
