Major world religions
There are generally considered to be twelve major world religions:
- Christianity 2.1 billion (Catholicism: 1 billion; Protestantism: 775 million, Eastern Orthodoxy: 240 million) [The arithmetic is incorrect on this line. Could someone with access to the data correct it?]
- Islam 1.1 billion
- Hinduism 1.05 billion
- Confucianism 400 million
- Buddhism 350 million
- Taoism 50 million
- Shinto 30 million
- Judaism 12 million
- Sikhism 9 million
- Jainism 6 million
- Bábàand Bahá'àfaiths
- Zoroastrianism
However, these figures are disputed because of the difficulty to establish the number of believers in some country, especially China.
