Ostropol

Ostropol, also known as Staryj Ostropil (Staryy Ostropol), is a small town on the Sluc River about 100 miles from the Southern Bug River, in the Ukraine. It is located at Latitude 49N, Longitude 27E and is situated at an altitude of 225 metres (839 Ft). The town of Lyubar is eleven and a half miles from Ostropol.

History

Ostropol was an important Jewish center in the 17th century.

Current status

There are two cemeteries, one across the steet from the other. Both are in terrible condition.
