Phlox (pronounced like "flocks") are a variety of perennial flower that bloom in early Spring. They grow wild, and are often cultivated in gardens. Phlox are very sensitive to drought, and require plenty of moisture.
Phlox range in color from pale blue to bright red to white. Some forms can grow up to 6 feet high, while other forms, such as "creeping phlox", form low mats only a few inches in height.
Phlox is found chiefly in the Western United States, although a few species can be found in East Asia.
