Phosphite

Phosphite is a polyatomic ion with the formula: PO₃^3-. The archaic name for phosphite was phosphorous, not to be confused with phosphorus.

The acid of phosphite is phosphorous acid (H₃PO₃). Other names are orthophosphorous acid, dihydroxyphosphine oxide, phosphorus trihydroxide and trihydroxyphosphine.
