There have been many famous Pratt & Whitney engines, including:
Reciprocating engines:
- Wasp
- Hornet
- Wasp Jr
- Twin Wasp Jr
- Twin Wasp
- Double Wasp
- Wasp Major - powering many postwar large bombers and transports.
- The JT3D powered many Boeing 707 variants and still powers many military 707 derivatives as well as the B-52 Stratofortress and C-141 transports.
- The JT8D which powered many of the second-generation jet airliners, including the Boeing 727, Douglas DC-9 and the early generation Boeing 737.
- The JT9D, as found in the original Boeing 747.
- TF-30, used on the F-111 and early F-14s
- F100, the engine used on many of today's high performance jet fighters including the F-15 and F-16. The F119 is a high-thrust descendent of the F100, in use on the F/A-22 Raptor. The F135 is a further development of the F119, powering the F-35 Joint Strike Fighter.
