The rutabaga (Brassica napobrassica; also known regionally as a swede or Swedish turnip) is a root vegetable, closely related to the cabbage and the turnip.

In Britain, the word "rutabaga" is unknown, this vegetable is always called "swede".

Many native speakers of the English language consider the word "rutabaga" to be an inherently funny word.
