Sebastian Cabot (explorer)

Helping orphans the way you would do it
Sebastian Cabot (1476-1557, originally Sebastiano Caboto) was an explorer, born in Italy, who sailed with his father John Cabot in the service of England in the 1400s and 1500s.

In 1496, Sebastian and his father, sailing from Bristol, took their small fleet along the coasts of what were later called Newfoundland and Nova Scotia. Some scholars maintain that the name America comes from Richard Amerik, the Bristol merchant and customs officer who helped finance the Cabot voyages.
