Teddy Pendergrass

Theodore Pendergrass, Jr. (born March 26 1950) is an American soul singer.

His career began when he was a drummer for The Cadillacs, which soon merged with Harold Melvin & the Blue Notes. Melvin invited Pendergrass to become the lead singer, and the group soon signed with Gamble & Huff. His first single was "I Miss You", followed by more before personality conflicts drove the group apart and created two groups known as The Blue Notes for a period. Pendergrass then launched a solo career and released hit singles like "The More I Get the More I want". He also began his practice of ladies-only concerts, for which he remains well-known. More hits followed before a 1982 car accident paralyzed Pendergrass. After physical therapy, he continued recording throughout the 1980s and 90s.
