Tyler
Tyler is the name of the office of outer guard of a Freemason's lodge. Early speculative Masonic lodges met in taverns and other convenient public meeting places, and employed a tyler to guard the door from both malicious and simply curious people. The name comes from the profession of tyler -- a person who lays roof and floor tiles.
