Viktor Fedorovych Yanukovych (born July 9, 1950) is the current prime minister of Ukraine. He has held this position since 21 November 2002. He was previously governor of the Donetsk region and his candidacy was supported by Ukrainian president Leonid Kuchma. The previous government was dissolved by the president due to its lack of backing in parliament.

He graduated from the Ukrainian Academy of Foreign Trade as a Master of International Law in 2001 and was qualified as a mechanical engineer in 1980 at Donetsk Polytechnic Institute, which is now Donetsk State Technical University.
