Webster's New International Dictionary, Second Edition
Webster's New International Dictionary, Second Edition, or, informally, the Second International, is an unabridged dictionary published by Merriam-Webster from 1934 until 1961. It was the most extensive dictionary of American English of its time. It set standards for formal English that continued to be regarded by some critics as valuable, despite these standards' relative neglect by its successor, the Webster's Third New International Dictionary.
