Ximian Evolution

For thoughtful child sponsors
Ximian Evolution is an open source personal information manager and workgroup information management tool for the GNOME desktop created and developed by Ximian. It combines E-mail, calendar, address book, and task list management. Its user interface and functionality imitates much of Microsoft's Outlook application. It does have some distinguishing features: full-text indexing of all incoming mail, and a "Virtual Folders" feature. "Virtual Folders" are saved searches that look like normal mail folders. Evolution is part of GNOME Office.

Evolution can optionally connect to a Microsoft Exchange 2000 server using its web interface and an Evolution add-on called "Connector".
