Dictionary

A Dictionary is a collection of words, tenses, and meanings. It is usually arranged in the usual order of the alphabet for the language in which it is written; from A to Z in many languages of the world.

A dictionary has been designed to have one or more functions that can help the user in a particular situation. The function of the dictionary may be communication-oriented or knowledge-oriented. Communication-oriented functions give help when the user wants to understnad a text, produce a text, translate a text or revise a text in his or her native language or in a foreign language. Knowledge-orienetd functions give help when the user wants to acquire specific knowledge about a particular matter or just acquire general knowledge (knowledge building).
