Geography is the science of the earth's locations. It focuses on the distribution of natural and human parts on the earth surface. It tries to describe rather than to predict, so there is some overlap with zoology (also descriptive) and ecology (more predictive, like engineering).

The word geography comes from the Greek words gĂȘ ("the Earth") and graphein ("to write", as in "to describe").
