Geometry

Geometry is a kind of math used to describe shapes. We can use it describe a flat shape's area and perimeter. We can use geometry to describe a 3D shape's volume and surface area.

Since many real things look like shapes we use in geometry--which are called geometrical shapes, and since we can use geometry to describe geometrical shapes, we can use geometry to describe many real things which look like geometrical shapes. For example, we can find the surface areas of houses, the volumes of boxes, the area of farmland in a certain place, and the perimeter of a pond.
