Periodic table
The Periodic table of the chemical elements is a list of simple chemical substances (elements). In the table, elements are in increasing order of their atomic numbers. Elements in the same column have the same number of outer shell electrons in their atoms, so they have similar chemical properties.

Color coding for atomic numbers:
- Elements numbered in blue are liquids at STP;
- those in green are gases at STP;
- those in black are solid at STP;
- those in red are synthetic (all are solid at STP).
- those in gray have not yet been discovered (they also have muted fill colors indicating the likely chemical series they would fall under).
