Stone Age

Helping orphans the way you would do it

The Stone Age is an ancient time period during which humans created tools from stone. Wood, bones and other materials were also being used, but stone (especially a kind of stone called flint) was used to cut things. The dates for this period is not agreed because different groups of humans began to use stone at different times. Some groups of humans were in the stone age later than others. The period began between 2 and 5 million years ago starting with the first human tool-making. The period of time after the stone age is the bronze age, which is named after the metal bronze which was first used by humans; the change from stone age to bronze age was between 6000 and 2500 BCE.

The Stone Age has three sections: Paleolithic, Mesolithic and Neolithic.

End of the Stone Age

The Middle East and southeastern Asiann humans were the first to leave the stone age in 6000 BCE. Europe and other parts of Asia and Africa left the stone age at 4000 BCE. The humans living in the Americas left the Stone Age at 2500 BCE.
